Some of my fellow-members criticize
the scientific approach of my speech. They affirm that the beautiful formulas
have little interest. Only, count the results obtained with our patients. It is
true that this empirical vision, of electrotherapy, does not have my favour.
I do not forget that we look after
people, all different in their reactions. We deal with chaotic order.
Significant is formula, not
the results which it gives.
We however will make a distorsion
with this rule. This quantified example has, well on, a goa l: To show that the
objective of electrotherapy is not always achieved.
If the goal of this technique
remains to concentrate the effects in tissues, following calculation is useful ;
- average example, the impedance is 3 000 W
- the current is constant
- the intensity is 2 mA.
We are in the presence of a
treatment of iontophoresis which has as a major objective, the action in
tissues. We learned that current crosses tissues, taking with him, the
ionizable substances. There is no doubt in our spirits. Following animation
shows the result of calculation ;

You doubt this animation ?
However, we all know, that the
crossed tissues have a low resistance, about 20 W, Us learned all the ohm
law ;
U=0,002*(1 490+20+1 490)
U=0,002*(1 490+1 490)+0,002*20
U=0,002*(96*3 000/100)+0,002*(4*3
000/100)
The output in tissues is well
4%.
Dispersed energy : 96%.
The electrotherapic system, when the
current slope is null, offers the most unfavourable conditions.
